Mr. Jagat Narain Kapoor, born on January 1, 1922, in Kannauj, India, was the visionary founder
of Jagat Aroma Oils Distillery, India’s foremost organization specializing in the manufacturing
and supply of fragrance and flavour materials.

After graduating from BHU, Mr. Kapoor apprenticed at two companies before founding what is known today as Jagat Aroma Oils Distillery in 1972. During his time at JAGAT, he also introduced Indian Essential Oils like Ajowan, Calamus, Tagetes, Himalayan Cedar Wood, and Anethum Sowa to the global market. His contributions to the industry extended beyond innovation. In the mid-60s, he spearheaded the commercial farming of Mentha Arvensis, propelling India to become the largest producer of Mint Oils globally.

Recognized for his expertise, Mr. Kapoor received numerous awards from the Central and State governments of India. He was a founding member of the Essential Oils Association of India and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his industry contributions. Additionally, he held memberships in prestigious bodies like the Bureau of Indian Standards committee for Essential Oils International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades, Fragrances and Flavours Association of India and The Pharmaceutical Society, IIT (BHU) Varanasi.
